High Gain Amplifier with Enhanced Cascoded Compensation

    Get PDF
A two-stage CMOS operational amplifier with both, gain-boosting and indirect current feedback frequency compensation performed by means of regulated cascode amplifiers, is presented. By using quasi-floating-gate transistors (QFGT) the supply requirements, the number of capacitors and the size of the compensation capacitors respect to other Miller schemes are reduced. A prototype was fabricated using a 0.5 μm technology, resulting, for a load of 45 pF and supply voltage of 1.65 V, in open-loop-gain of 129 dB, 23 MHz of gain-bandwidth product, 60o phase margin, 675 μW power consumption and 1% settling time of 28 ns

The PHA Test Reflects Acquired T-Cell Mediated Immunocompetence in Birds

cological immunology requires techniques to reliably measure immunocompetence in wild vertebrates. The PHA-skin test, involving subcutaneous injection of a mitogen (phytohemagglutinin, PHA) and measurement of subsequent swelling as a surrogate of T-cell mediated immunocompetence, has been the test of choice due to its practicality and ease of use in the field. However, mechanisms involved in local immunological and inflammatory processes provoked by PHA are poorly known, and its use and interpretation as an acquired immune response is currently debated.) and plasma proteins circulating in the bloodstream, potentially involved in the immunological and inflammatory processes, through flow cytometry and electrophoresis. Our results showed stronger responses after a second PHA injection, independent of species, time elapsed and changes in body mass of birds between first and second injections, thus supporting the adaptive nature of this immune response. Furthermore, the concomitant changes in the plasma concentrations of T-lymphocyte subsets and globulins indicate a causal link between the activation of the T-cell mediated immune system and local tissue swelling. These findings justify the widespread use of the PHA-skin test as a reliable evaluator of acquired T-cell mediated immunocompetence in diverse biological disciplines. Further experimental research should be aimed at evaluating the relative role of innate immunocompetence in wild conditions, where the access to dietary proteins varies more than in captivity, and to ascertain how PHA responses relate to particular host-parasite interactions

En esta presentación describimos el uso de ontologías legales como base para la mejora del soporte para jueces. El uso de la tecnología de procesamiento de lenguaje natural permite obtener respuestas a los jóvenes jueces en tiempo real y mejorar así su trabajo día a día.We present an intelligent FAQ system for junior judges that intensively uses the ontology and allows a free text input for querying. We describe the use of legal ontologies as a basis to improve IT support for professional judges. As opposed to most legal ontologies designed so far, which are mostly based on dogmatic and normative knowledge, we emphasize the importance of professional knowledge and experience as an important pillar for constructing the ontolog

Light-Weight Wearable Gyroscopic Actuators Can Modulate Balance Performance and Gait Characteristics:A Proof-of-Concept Study

Falling is a major cause of morbidity, and is often caused by a decrease in postural stability. A key component of postural stability is whole-body centroidal angular momentum, which can be influenced by control moment gyroscopes. In this proof-of-concept study, we explore the influence of our wearable robotic gyroscopic actuator “GyroPack” on the balance performance and gait characteristics of non-impaired individuals (seven female/eight male, 30 ± 7 years, 68.8 ± 8.4 kg). Participants performed a series of balance and walking tasks with and without wearing the GyroPack. The device displayed various control modes, which were hypothesised to positively, negatively, or neutrally impact postural control. When configured as a damper, the GyroPack increased mediolateral standing time and walking distance, on a balance beam, and decreased trunk angular velocity variability, while walking on a treadmill. When configured as a negative damper, both peak trunk angular rate and trunk angular velocity variability increased during treadmill walking. This exploratory study shows that gyroscopic actuators can influence balance and gait kinematics. Our results mirror the findings of our earlier studies; though, with more than 50% mass reduction of the device, practical and clinical applicability now appears within reach.</p

Group Approach to the Quantization of the P\"oschl-Teller dynamics

The quantum dynamics of a particle in the Modified P\"oschl-Teller potential is derived from the group SL(2,R)SL(2,R) by applying a Group Approach to Quantization (GAQ). The explicit form of the Hamiltonian as well as the ladder operators is found in the enveloping algebra of this basic symmetry group. The present algorithm provides a physical realization of the non-unitary, finite-dimensional, irreducible representations of the SL(2,R)SL(2,R) group. The non-unitarity manifests itself in that only half of the states are normalizable, in contrast with the representations of SU(2) where all the states are physical.Comment: 17 pages, LaTe

AbstractThe river crocodile (Crocodylus acutus, Cuvier, 1807) is a protected species in Mexico. In this work the stomach contents obtained through gastric lavage of 53 C. acutus from the estuarine systems “El Salado”, “Boca Negra-Boca de Tomates” and from the “UMA (Unidad de Manejo y Conservación de Vida Silvestre” for its meaning in Spanish) Reptilario Cipactli” located in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico were collected to study the helminth fauna of the species. Only Dujardinascaris helicina (Molin, 1860) was identified. The highest prevalence occurred in “Boca Negra-Boca de Tomates” with 74% and an abundance of 3.17, and the lowest in “UMA Reptilario Cipactli” with 12% and an abundance of 0.76. The dissimilarity is assumed to be caused primarily by the different feeding habits between wildlife and captivity raised crocodiles. During this investigation D. helicina is registered for the first time as a parasite for C. acutus in the region
